There are times when I just feel that the ordinary every day isn’t enough. I need an extra bit of help from the Universe to help me to get into the flow or to remind me of what’s outside of my own four walls.
Of course, there are daily things that I do to help myself…I start my day by journaling my morning papers to get my thoughts out of my head and to clear my mind for the day ahead. I take a walk in nature every day, stay hydrated, get good sleep, and take some good quality vitamins to make sure I’m topped up with what my mind and body need. But on those days when I need something else, to boost my self-esteem, or to give me a positive to ponder, I love my affirmation cards.
Affirmations are positive statements that can help people to challenge negative thoughts and beliefs, boost their self-confidence, and improve their mood.
There are many lists of affirmations available to download for free, and some of my favourites are written by the wonderful Louise Hay, here:
The Good Trade website has a great list, here:
And Oprah has gathered some fantastic quotes from highly successful people and great thinkers that make great affirmations, here:
I’ve written my own short collection of affirmations that you are welcome to use, and so that it’s easy for you to print out each one onto its own strip of card, I’ve used a table that you can edit and add to as you go along because once you get into using affirmations, you’ll start to recognise and collect certain quotes that you hear, or read, and add them to your collection.

How to create your own collection of affirmation cards
First of all, simply print off the list of affirmations onto some thin card, then get busy with a paper cutter (scissors work just as well!) and cut each statement into its own card, so you end up with a pile of strips of my collection on my desk in a pretty glass jar and choose one either at random, or purposefully each morning. I love choosing randomly, as I feel that the Universe is really giving me the message I need at that moment.
The power of water
Having read of Masaru Emoto’s incredible book The Hidden Messages in Water and seen the changes that take place in ice crystals when subjected to words of hate compared to words of love, I am a huge believer in the power of water to magnify and broadcast our intentions. So to magnify my affirmations, I put the slip of paper under my glass of water for the whole day. That way, every time I take a drink, I can see it and ponder what it means for me, and I know that the energy of the affirmation has been infused into the water.
Why don’t you try it for yourself?
